Is a 3 inch lift too much?

Hey everyone, I'm new here. I recently bought a 2002 SR5 that I'm looking to lift. I've heard that if I lift it too much it can be hard on the drivetrain, is a 3-inch lift too much for an all-stock drivetrain? Also, some of the cheaper lifts have spacers in the front (there is one from rough country for $249), are those okay or should I spend more for a full suspension lift? I will not be off-roading, it will be strictly for looks. I appreciate any suggestions, thanks in advance!

If you're not offroading go for the rough country lift.

Anything more than 3.5" I believe requires a diff drop, so this shouldn't be an issue for you.

However, if you're planning to lift I'd go through and replace all the components that might be strained from "new" use. Ball joints, Tie rods, etc.

Everyone’s opinion is going to be different on the subject matter. My opinion is that a rough country suspension will ride sloppily, but your experience may be different. I prefer a stiffer, stable ride. Money doesn’t grow on trees but you could always try out the RC setup and if you decide you don’t like it, yank it, sell it, allocate those funds and save some more if you wanna try something different.

2" suspension, 1" body lift. No extra part needed to align the front correctly, minimal extra drivetrain wear, 3" lift look...

Make sure you get new OEM (only!) front lower ball joints.
