Wait. I thought that was the only way to get into the car by bending and cocking my head? :shocked: Keep in mind this is no Sequoia or Landcruiser where there is more headspace.

I'm 6' 3" and I have never had any issues getting in, out, or while in my 4Runner and I also have the sunroof which I understand from what I've read gives even less head room, while sitting in the driver's seat and the seat adjusted to where I feel right to drive I have at least a couple of inches between my head and headliner.
its a power seat so I will have to play with the buttons again or maybe something is jammed or wrong with the seat then. I played with buttons "some" but it would go forward and back and up but it "seems" to act like its down all the way.
I only had it a week and im still getting used to everything so.......

If I'm not mistaken the driver's seat bottom tilts downward at the rear of the seat, the front of the seat bottom still stays at the same position/height, and the backrest of the seat reclines.
its been raining all day but i'll play with it some more tomorrow.
when im sitting in it, my head is pretty close to the roof, I sure cant put my arm over my head, just by reaching up scratching my head my hand rubs on the headliner. I bet its like 2" or less headroom

5'10". I had this issue slightly on my initial test drive. then I lowered the seat as far as it would go. no issues since.
the head space is a bit tight due to the sunroof, but my head never touches, and I never think about it.
well I did some testing and compared to passenger seat height, its down as far as it goes.
guess i'll just have to get used to it.
maybe the leather seats sit up higher or something or maybe its the sport edition but with my friends sr5 I don't have this same issue, I mean my head comes close, but it doesn't hit if I forget to bend my neck.
im sure in a month or two I wont even realize im bending my neck to get in.

Does the driver's seat adjust upwards?
Just wondering if your seat is not working correctly or maybe there's something jammed under the seat that's keeping it from going downwards all the way, I have a Limited and leather seats and no issues for me and I'm much taller than you, I wouldn't think the Sport Edition would be any different!

I went out and got some approximate measurements on my Limited so you can try and compare them to your Sport Edition seat, from the door sill to the seat edge at center of the seat bottom is 10", from center of seat edge to top of door opening is 30", my seat is adjusted back so that the front top edge of the bottom seat cushion is about even with the front of plastic bolt covers where the seat frame attaches to the floor pan, the backrest of the driver's seat is 10" from the second row seat bottom top edge (I have no way to determine the recline angle/tilt of the seat backrest), this is of course the way my seat is adjusted for me at 6' 3".

maybe its because its 2wd and its not as high off the ground or something
my friends cloth seats are softer and you sink into them more so maybe that's why hers feels like it has better head room when I get in it.
like I said, its not a HUGE deal but as short as I am, why im hitting my head makes no sense, except because im not tall, the seat is set forward up close to the steering wheel
also I can only fit 3 fingers above my head to touch the roof which "seems" unusually low to me, good thing im not claustrophobic lol

I'm only 5'11 but it's more torso then legs. My head occasionally brushes the headliner, wish I could have found a no-sunroof 4R for this reason. Seat is down as far as it goes, and I'd rather not recline way back... I'm certainly not sitting up 90 degrees straight either.
I'm expecting to bash my bean plenty when I finally get this truck offroad this summer.

ahh ok, so the sun roof makes the roof sit lower because of the extra thickness needed there for it to fit :thumb:
it never registered to me at first and I kept thinking "how can there be different height roofs on these trucks", thinking only about the outside lol
wish I did have the sun roof but all the sport editions have them and I wanted the spoiler hood. I looked long and hard for a basic sr5 with v8 and cloth seats but couldn't find one. I had even resigned to swap hoods on it for the scoop. to get the v8 and hood scoop I wanted I had to get leather seats and sun roof I hate having but it is what it is.

I'm in my fourth 4th gen and this is the first time I have a sunroof. I'm 6'4" and yes there are times I feel my head brush against the headliner on the left edge of the sunroof opening. I've gotten used to it but it was really annoying in the beginning. I would have loved to find one without the sunroof but you can't be picky these days when it comes to finding a decent 4th gen.

I hit my head constantly. 6'2 but it's definitely the sunroof because I never had an issue in my old 4th gen without a sunroof. I'm starting to try and find options but it seems the only answer is cutting the seat frame rail bracket and straightening it, which I'm really hesitant to do.
