Silverstar H11 55W Low beam Headlamp bulbs for Projector style lamps.

I recently wrote Sylvania about the production of H11 55W Low Beam Headlamp bulbs. This was their responce.

"Scott, yes we sure are. We are hoping for a fall 2008 introduction of this item. We invite folks to check back with us in the summer to confirm. We will not offer the item unless all testing and performance is just right."

Hopefully by the fall I can go with all Silverstars on my 2008.

Just passing along info.

Does another company make performance aftermarket H11 bulbs currently???

The New Silverstar Ultras are rated at 4100K. The Standard Silver stars are 4000K, according to their web site info.

I can not offer any help as I hate the so-called upgraded head lights. They cost more, never last as long (so they cost even more over time) and they only look brighter and not necessary help you see any better. Another placebo effect?

Well Grease we will just have to agree to disagree. IMO The quality aftermarket performance bulbs provide better lighting than Standard Halogen bulbs. You are correct with the fact that they do not last as long and cost more. That is very true. I have no way to prove that the intensity of the light at a given distance is any better. I wish I could find something to prove that. We are right back to the situation of the "Butt-Dyno", it is all based on someones perception. I personally feel they provide better lighting.

I have to agree with you on the Silverstars, and really any 'blue' bulb out there.

I've had SS before, and they only lasted about a year, and the light output was 'whiter' but they are not really any brighter at all.

Look at the rated life of the SS, it's only a 150 hours? compared to the 850-1000 of their other types.

Also If you look up the lumens of the SS it's rated at 1000 +/- 15%

Then look up the standard 9006 replacement, it's also rated at 1000 +/- 15%

the only thing the SS really offers is a 4000k color temp, which does nothing for light output.

Which their marketing department knows that if they can market the bulb as 'whiter' people are going to think it's also brighter.

I hear what you're saying.
But I've had SS installed on a vehicle for about 6 years. I always run with my lights turned on when I'm on the expressway (80% of my driving). They're still going strong.

The trick is to not touch them when installing.
I do like the "whiter" light. I do NOT like blueish light. The whiter, the better for me.

(Evernone's mileage will vary...)

they have products called xenon match for fog light replacement and xenon match plus for high lumen output. Looks like real high quality stuff. H11 is available $29 for a fog light pair and $37 for headlamp set.

What I really don't like about those bulbs are the wattage ratings, looks like most of them are 80watt bulbs.

You could run into problems with them melting the reflector housing.

I also would like to see an actual tech spec sheet on the bulbs with output ratings. I can't seem to find anything on that.

I guess after trying so many different types of colored bulbs, and having horrible light output and lifespan with all of them. I've come to the conclusion the only way to get more light output is retrofit HID projectors and HID upgrade.
 
I've had bad luck with all the aftermarket bulbs as well but when I purchased my Hoen bulbs I've never been happier .... they haven't burned out like me piaa's and are still running strong.....they do make stock ratings (55w) bulbs as well, which are the one's I have..... you also have the choice with the higher rated bulbs, to get the upgraded harness's, so they won't melt....this is gonna be my next purchase...Awesome Bulbs!!

hey sportsrunner did u get the xenonmatching listed under fog light on the website??
 
i wemt threw the ss ultras and the ss. they are not worth it at all. i would trade an yellowish light bulb for a random nite where one of my ss failed me. if you do i recommend to keep a spare.

i have hids and they last at lot longer. I took them out and put oem in cuz in thick fog the 4.3k were too white and made it a little harder to see. I also was running some 9006 yellow fog bulbs that helped.but, when there is not a really thick fog in the mountains the hids are worth it. i will never buy ss again cuz i would rather run a cheapy hid kit.

I ran SS's in my last 3 trucks , I drive a lot and went through to many sets just to have a whiter light , it cost me a lot of money over the years.

I will stay with the stock ones since I feel they are the best OEM lights I've had on the past vehicles. I wish the fogs were brighter ( although they are brighter , better than my other trucks) but I feel they work great and help light up the sides of the road to help with the varmints out in the country.

I agree with the fogs. They are almost useless.

We had some fog the other morning and I was turning on/off several times. I did not find that I could see any better with them on.

can u post some pictures?? i plan on buying those bulbs. but before i go buying i kinda wants to see how they look on 4Runner
