Icon 52700 vs OME 889 on lightweight 5G

I’m in between the two and was wondering which one would ride higher/better with 285s. Not planning on rear bumper or crazy overland weight.

I read that people were getting anywhere from 2-3 inches with the icons but have not seen a lot of people go with the OME 889.

The OME (2)889 is a 260lb spring, the ICON 52700 is a 210lb spring. The ICON will ride a bit better on road if not carrying a lot of weight. The 2889 OME's will net you closer to 3" of total lift, where as the ICONs are about 1" shorter overall.

Might be worth checking out the new Bilstien B12 Springs too.

Get the OME. The Icon 2" springs are great but once you add weight on the back, it will sag.

Would old man emu be too rough with no weight in the back? About a 40% more increase in stiffness.

40% increase in stiffness with no weight added sounds miserable. Maybe you don’t have any fillings to rattle out.

Something you may want to consider are the MetalTech 4x4 Medium springs. I was planning to go the 52700 given it came with my suspension but negotiated the price down without the springs to go with MetalTech. Accounts for the “Toyota lean” and great reviews from other people on the forum. Note that they’re only going to provide a 2” lift though.

OME will ride terrible without constant load. If all you do is load camping gear every once in a while or haul a few things here and there then get the Icons. Seriously don't do the OME unless you have 100-200 lbs back there all the time.

I went the dobinsons route as well and have loved them. Reach out to @dobinsonsmike and let him know what you are planning on doing with your truck and he can help you out.

If you just want a comfortable ride with a little more capability I would definitely recommend them. For me they have done everything I have asked pretty well and I am happy I went that route vs the other more desert racing rebuild-able style of shocks.

Icon 3” 52800

I’m running the heavier load icon I believe and it was a horrible decision on my behalf. When I hit any bumps it’s like hitting the worst pothole over and over again. Again, I didn’t do my research enough but am thankful for these conversations.
