Can you clean the inside of the headlight housing?

can you? yes. should you? no. factory butyl is a huge pain to cook apart. whether you do oven or heat gun method.

Blah, thank you for the responses. I guess I will go the upgrade route and wait for my winch bumper. Judging from the lack of responses and when I searched I didn't find anyone else with this issue, it must not be a common problem. Was hoping for a TSB, but it's on top and doesn't really effect the lighting. Thanks again guys

My 2016 has what appears to be liquid residue from if you let water run down something and let it dry up without wiping it off. I think it is condensation over time that has done this so while not algae so to speak mine has similar in the housing type issues.

I'd crack it open before I spend a ton on getting new head lights. In fact people do this all the time. You can find the glue you need to re-seal at the retrofit source and you can find how to open the headlight here:

Try this.
Remove the housing(s) from the vehicle. Remove the bulb(s).
Put some crushed ice inside the housing. Swirl, swish, shake, agitate the ice. See if that removes the foreign material.
Dump thr ice/water out. Dry. Reassemble.

This is genius. I would add a final rinse with distilled water to discourage water spots as the water dries.
And while you’ve got the housing off the car and full of water, maybe see if you can find how the moisture got in there to begin with by looking for leaks.

I’ve used a length of ball chain for similar purposes in the past, but I wouldn’t use it with the relatively soft plastic of the headlight housing. I’d consider using plastic beads instead of ice though.
