Ah, we now add "air ride" in the mix..! I suppose all these variations can be easily identified by reaching the underside of the car and see: classic shocks, or shocks with RAS lines, or air "columns" / bags? ..and possible fluid leak in case of XRAS?

Reading the pre-purchase Sticky, I learned that XREAS was an option on Limiteds. Just curious, how likely is it to run into one (and possibly avoid buying one with it)?

4R newbie still shopping for used one, I wonder if XREAS is more prone to problems than "conventional" setup? I am considering vehicles in the 90K miles range, hopefully not too stressed... and I do not see myself modding the suspension.

Thanks. Yes, at least the one end I saw has two bolts, as you say. And yes, these rusted bolts look like they would fight a bit before giving way. Not too scary though, with some soaking in Kroil or such.

I had a quick peak at a PDF section of the 5th Gen manual here. It seems like a much better layout, easier to read than the the 4th Gen's I saw here. (Remember, I don't have a 4R yet so I live by the info I collect here and there... and I also used to work with tech writers)
