That is what I had thought, but it looks like I have clear coat pealing on the part that isn't faded yet. I will have to take some pictures and post tomorrow. Maybe someone tried to clear coat it at some point.

Found the culprit... Valve cover gasket was leaking oil onto the bottom of this guy, swelled up and busted. Now I just gotta find the part number to replace it, temporarily used some heater hose and made a U shaped pipe with some iron pipe since the hose kinked without it.

The timing belt is getting replaced with the next paycheck, it has 160k miles on it (I just got the 4runner 2k miles ago)

I am pretty handy and do most repairs myself. I was looking at how a slide hammer works and was curious if you have personal exp with them. It looks fairly easy with the right tools. Is there more than meets the eye or is it as easy as it looks?
