no lift kit for XREAS suspension! WHY?

ok so I called a local shop here in San Diego about getting a 3" lift kit for the 4Runner. I was planning to get the OME kit from slee off road. Call a shop for a install price and was told that there is no lift kit that will work with the XREAS. That I can lift the front but not the rear! whats the point of even doing it I asked???

How many members here have done a lify kit to their XREAS Sports Runner?

There are numerous kits you can do but you will need to scrap your xreas. Check with wheelersoffroad.com. They carry donahoe, swayaway, ome, revtek, etc.
 
they said that if you were to unplug the wires that connects to the XREAS stocks. It would cause error off the ECU. I was thinking the same meaning just scrap the XREAS as well
 
There are no electrical wires for the xreas suspension. All you do is unbolt the reservoir lines and resecure them somewhere out of the way. I did this to mine about six months ago.
 
There have been many, many guys on this site and others that have pulled the xreas to install OME or other type of lift. You are restricted to spacer lifts such as Cornfed from Burtman if you want to keep the system in place, they are however rather inexpensive to purchase.

thanks, maybe the issue is the shop and not anything else. Guess I will need to call other shops around and see what I can do.
The OME seems to be a nice system from what I've read here so far.

Getting my air lift 1000 this week :cool:
 
Im sure there is a shop that can install it for you down there. If you drive north a little try demello offroad in santa ana.
 
the shop I spoke to is in San Diego. Don't feel right to post their shop name as I am not trying to make them sound bad.
Funny cuz I asked is there anything I can do? answer=NO
 
A lot of shops for insurance reasons will not do that because they would halfto disconnect the xreas lines which can be a liability issue. The spacer kits such as cornfed are a good beginner kit or the next step up would be ome suspension. If you wanto go all out you could get swayaway, donahoe, camburg or total chaos. It all depends how much your willing to spend. Look at the stuff Ive bought in my sig. Hope this helps
 
You could try JD fabrications, they are down there. I dont know if they will be interested as they are more of a race shop, but you never know. They make some pretty insane stuff, top notch.

Also, Demello moved to Corona a while back. And then there's T and J in Orange.

I dont recomend OutLaw Offroad almost just on principle alone, and they did a bad job on my brothers truck. But Im sure they dont f up everytime :p

But, have you made up your mind you want to ditch the xreas? I recomend everyone do there on bolt on work. Its not that hard, you have a wealth of information here at your fingertips. Plus then you will better understand the workings and troubleshooting.

well I hear good n bad about the xreas. I was thinking of getting the OME from slee off road which seems to be a good setup for the money.
most of the time I will do the install but I don't have space where I am at right now and no tools for the suspension to begin with.
I did find a shop call off road warehouse so might give them a call or stop by. I am getting the air lift 1000 this week and if I can will do the install. depends on what I need like if I need to take out the spring or shocks. I will just take it to a shop as I don't have the tools for that.
 
You can get the OME pre-built from Slee and the install is a very simple plug and play, no coil compressor required. Almost any decent shop should be able to install it. Good luck!
 
I say GO FOR IT!
Ditching the xreas to gain 3+" is worth it IMHO.
The xreas will be great if ur doing slaloms, lateral g testing, or high speed chicanes (sp), however if u want to put ur truck to its proper state (assuming its 4x4) then I feel U will be really happy with losing the xreas and gaining the height.
Anyways, should u remove the stuff and not like it, its possible to put it back on, but then u will have to go with spacers only.

my truck has been lifted for a little over a month, and I HONESTLY feel that it drives BETTER now than before. Its not an F1 car, but now its better ON & OFFROAD. $0.02

Going to get the OME for slee as it seems to be the best for the $$
sounds like alot of members seems to have that setup as well.
 
I would get it from wheelersoffroad. They are cheaper and will probably give you free shipping-NO SALES TAX!!

they do offer a better price for the same thing. looks like I know where to get them now.
