hey everyone, just looking for ideas...

I worked at CompUSA for nearly 2 years, in sales...I don't really wanna work in computers anymore, MAYBE something in sales, MAYBE...

I'm good with computers, tools, cars, etc...

I'm physically fit, athletic and I like hard work...

I like working with people, I hate being cooped up...

I just want ideas as to where I should think about working???

bank is a good idea, but that means working day, school at night...id rather work night, school in day, but im thinking about switching...

How about becoming a Poker Dealer. That's what I do. If you keep your own tips (most/all do) and work at night, you'll make out great (plus you don't have to claim everything, or claim very little... so tax free money!) Oh, and for anyone working for the IRS, I claim every cent I make :biggrin2:
I suppose any casino job would work well too with working nights (busiest time) like a blackjack dealer or craps dealer, etc.
I worked as a supervisor before becoming a dealer and it was pretty decent money for the work I had to do (which was nothing but stand around haha)

Get a job at one of the nicer restaurants in the area and run food or buss tables. Serve if they have it available and you think you can hang. Most places want you to be 21 to "serve" alcohol but you can "deliver" it to a table if you are 18. Work hard and you will get tipped well in return. Or you could do concierge type work in a hotel. Pretty much any job where you receive tips is good for while you are in school.

I know there's quite a few poker rooms out in Cali, some of which are Indian run. I work for Indians and you must be 18+ to work at the ones here. I wouldn't know any specifics on any out that way. I'd check into it anyways. It's good money.
 
You say you're 18? Are you enrolled in college? I would try for a job related to my field if I were you (unless the pay sucks). For me, being a Chemical Engineering major, I got a job in a laboratory doing busy work, but I got paid $10/hour. The server jobs were too competitive in my area during college, but buddies of mine made awesome money when working at classier establishments.
Later I got in as an undergrad TA. That was nice because of the freshmen girls in my lab ;), but the main benefit was that I didn't have to drive to work, I just went after and between classes. The pay wasn't as good, but the networking with professors, the practice of basic skills (revisited), plus learning how to effectively lead young people was invaluable experience.
Then of course the first few summers (before internship/co-op status) I worked labor jobs or driving/delivery jobs.

and yes, im in a community college right now, so i will look into that :D
 
im at pasadena city college...

i had the grades for any cal state and a lot of UC's but im determined to go to UCLA, and the only way to get in there without a 4.0 and perfect SAT's, is to transfer in...so thats my plan :D

where do you go?
 
is that a CC? I know huntington beach area pretty well, im thinking bout going out there or newport tonight to have a bonfire get-together kinda thing...
 
Very part time at a Baskin Robbins, the rest at a dental office. Makes me a few thousand a month between the 2.
 
nice, dental office or ANY kind of office is decent money, but id rather work nights, IF POSSIBLE...oh well
