00 Limited weird power antenna issues

So I put a new head unit (Jensen VX3022) in my 2000 limited, I used a metra harness (Metra Part # 70-1761 | Toyota wire harness | Metra Online) to make the connections to the factory harness.

Per the harness the blue wire controls the power antenna, check all connections and continuity...all good.

Here is the weird part, when you turn the car on the power antenna goes up...even if the head unit is off...turn the head unit off and antenna does not go down...turn the car off and it goes down after about 5-7 seconds.

The factory radio ran the antenna just fine. All other function of the new head unit are spot on. I did remove the factory amp during the install.

Anyone else run into this issue? Any idea what might cause this?

I have this issue as well with my installed pioneer head unit. I think the blue wire on my harness corresponds to remote on as well, but I use that for my subwoofer amp. I'm going to be checking it all out this weekend and I'll let you know if I find a fix.

I'm getting weird operation to through a Kenwood head - antennae extends while I run my iPod. I'm going to add a dash switch for the blue wire to manually control it.

It's just your head unit making the call and it isn't designed for the Toyota circuits I suppose. Don't fret over it - put in a switch or disconnect and use the aux antennae.

I added a switch running from the ACC power wire on the HU to the blue antenna wire on the car's wiring harness. Works perfect.

Another fix is to just get a new stubby antenna.
