The 4runners don't have lsd. There is Trac system that stops the wheels from spinning if both wheels are on the ground and center diff lock to engage front and rear. There are a bunch of folks running with trutrac or detroit. It gets a little getting used to but generally folks like it.
Anyone running a Tru-Trac in the rear?

I’m aware that my 2001 doesn’t have LSD which is why I’m asking specifically about installing a true track in those year models with vsc and trac.
Does traction control and vsc interact with the throttle and brakes when the TT locks the axles?
What happens then?

I have no experience, but think of the LSD being a proactive device while Trac is a reactive device. The LSD while lock up in response to driveshaft input, while you will have to wait for the ABS sensors to generate an input to utilize Trac. From that logic, I don't see there being a conflict

I expect Trac and a TrueTrac to work in a complementary fashion. Should be a great upgrade.

That was the experience of a few of the Land Cruiser 100 Series guys that had the 01 and up and well for TrueTracs instead of Full Lockers. They worked together to limit wheelspin, although for some truly hardcore situations, you need to disable TRAC or you won't gen ENOUGH wheelspin to get where you are going.

I’m thinking TT in the rear and Andy’s Mod is all I need.
What I don’t want is to hit a patch of ice or water on the highway and have the trac and TT over correcting and sending me in a flat spin to eternity.
Since anniesball72 is alive and well I feel better about the setup. Does it work well in awd on the Highway ab72?

I'd second that it should be a great upgrade. I have a factory e-locker retrofitted to my 02, and it works well with the vsc system.

They work great together. The TT with TRAC allows almost no wheel spin on pavement. I ended up disabling my VSC/TRAC due to MT swap. On the road in multi mode in snowy conditions the TT is a huge upgrade over TRAC. I wouldn’t look back. No drivability concerns at all.you won’t know it’s there till you need it.

I don't have the TRAC system since mine is 98 but the Trutrac is a great set it and forget it thing to do. Traction on and off-road is greatly improved and is way simpler to do than an e-locker retrofit. I did a trail with my highway rated tires with some friends a few years ago and had less trouble with my highway tires and an LSD that they did with off-road tires and an open diff.
