02 running build thread (pic heavy)

Hey guys ive been on here for about a year so i decided that i should start my build thread. its a 2002 sr5 4wd natural white. being that im a college student my mods tend to come in the summer when i have a job and can afford to do things to the truck.

here is me with my 2 dogs and the truck before lift.

Mods so far:
3 inch spacer in the front, ome 890 coils in the rear with billstein 5150's.
285/75/16 General Grabber at2's
4xinovations rock sliders
1st gen roll bar
cobra 19 cb radio in the dash mount, 6ft firestick antenna. t4r mount
ultra gauge
550 paracord wrap on stearing wheel wrap.

To do list:
front and rear bumpers and skid plates
Paint fender flairs black.
on board air
locker
toytec ultimate lift for front.

The first Mod i did was i added the cobra 19 cb radio and the 6 foor firestick antenna.

lift time

then i started on buying my lift. i found the spacer lift in the classified section on here and saved about 50 bucks on the original price from toytec. i went with the toytec spacer lift in the front and ome 890 coils in the rear with billstein 5150 shocks in the rear.

after it all came in the mail.

lift install

it took me about a month till i could finally get my lift installed. this came about the week before i planned to head to raush creek for the first time.

the install took awhile since the mechanics dont really believe in spacer lifts and didnt see how it would work. but they finally figured why not and actually do it and it turned out fine now they are believers.

rock sliders part one

i ordered some rock sliders from 4xinovations. i chose these bc of there price and they looked nice on the rigs i saw them on. i got in contact with ripcord and he told me that his were welded up at a 20 degree angle that is what i did as well. they shipped well and here they are on my front steps.

after they were welded up. the guy who welded them up wanted a letter from toyota before he could weld them to the frame :frusty: so i had to go to rausch creek with out them. i was not happy but had to do with out.
so they sat lie this in my room for 5 months!

HAHA!! love the pic of the guy bearing down on the lever getting the lower shock bolt in during the lift installation. Brings back bad memories of when I installed my lift!

rausch creek

in june me and a group of runners from North East 4runner owners association went to rausch creek for out takeover weekend. this was my first wheeling trip and i was kinda nervous about breaking something. it was a small group who went but we had a blast here are a few pictures. ill put a link up for the rest of them.

Haha, that pic with the mechanics cracks me up. That was a very interesting way to get the lower shock bolt in, although not the safest. Nice work so far and the 4runner looks great.

ultra gauge, sliders and 1st gen roll bar

I bought a ultra gauge in the yototech group buy here is where i installed mine with just velcro. this is on a trip to ny after it was calibrated. yes that is the actual mpg :reddance:

I recently went up to Long Island to get some work done and meet up with LINY4runner (brian) he welded the sliders on for me :biggrin2: finally i had the sliders for 6 months waiting to be installed. also i had bought a 1st gen roll bar from one of his buddies months before and i also picked that up and got it welded on. here are some pics.

Just out of morbid curiousity, what was the welder guy wanting a letter from Toyota for prior to doing the welds?

4Runner looks great and GL on some of the future mods too!

Hi lift jack mounted on the roll bar. used a 3/8th bolt 2 nuts, 2 washers and a wing nut. seems very secure.

I got the idea to wrap my steering wheel with paracord from another user but dont remember their name. very easy to do just wrap the cord around tight and burn the end so it doesnt come undone. feels nice too.

around christmas i showed my gf a picture of another 4runner and she told me "it looks like a jeep" :happens: but to make up for it i ended up getting a pair of trd decals for the truck. she knows now not to make that mistake again! :jump:

idk why he wanted one when he told me that i kinda said forget it i can go somewhere else cheaper with out the hassle. so it wasnt a big deal.

yeah for the price there not bad u have to have someone weld them together then to the truck but they are some of the cheapest and well built

Do you have anymore info on the gauge? I'de really like to get one and how does that spacer in the front do? Is the ride real rough? I like your build, mild and still dd status
