02 sensor opinion?

Hello,

Just wondering if I should replace my 02 sensor. Mileage seems to be the average, getting close to 500kms on a tank. Just did major tune-up of all fluids, filters, etc. I'm throwing the 02 code, but a friend says it will just throw it again even after getting a new sensor. My question: is running with a 'faulty' sensor bad for the engine? Should I just replace it?

If you're getting the O2 code (not the p0420 cat code), yeah replace it with a Denso one. The code should not come back on, your friend may be confusing their info with the common cat problem... That code is a bugger!

Yup, it matters which code it is, 0420, or I think it's 0141 or something. Very different faults...

Your runner has two O2 sensors. One is located near the catalytic converter and one is located between your air box and your engine block in the engine bay. I have personally never had problems with either of them except for times where I have gone mudding and broke the air intake sensor. Once I changed it out, no problems, and no, they are not faulty, once you fix it, it is (fix)ed. Simple as pie.

What is the "O2" code? Can you give the code specifically? You have more than 1 sensor. If it's P0420, it's the rear sensor and the code may not come back after replacing it, if the sensor is the issue. I replaced mine months ago and have not had a code come back.
