Brake pedal can often be pressed to the floor, but braking itself appears to be OK and pedal just barely bottoms out. A quick re-pump of pedal corrects it. Brake booster primes correctly when starting (I can hear it), no visible fluid leaks anywhere. I recently tightened the valve cover and my extension made contact with one of the lines coming off the booster and I heard a click sound as if there was a ground issue, I have not investigated this particular issue yet.
I'm having P0440 followed by P0446 codes. Newer OEM gas cap, recently replaced the overflow valve and gasket on top of fuel tank, visually inspected vacuum lines both under the hood and going to/from VSV attached to charcoal canister...ran a heavy bead of oil resistant sealant around the seam of the charcoal canister to avail. Replaced multiple vacuum lines in both areas I inspected.
Have not checked VSVs w/the 9v battery test method yet. Could a short or ground issue with the battery booster be related to the evap codes? I'm at a loss and haven't had time to do the above-listed diagnostics and I really don't want/afford to take it dealer for their $100 diagnostic test on top of buying potentially expensive parts. Please advise guys!
