Seat Rattle
I just posted my first thread and this is the reason I joined the website. I am having the same problem and it is driving my nuts!! I have had my seat replaced once already and the new seat is now doing the same thing. I really would like to just buy the Limited poer seats. They are completely different and do not move at all. Let me know if you find a fix.

I have the same problem!! My driver seat jiggles like none other! The other day I went over a big bump and I realized that the seat had a spring like motion to it. I really hope the dealer can fix this. They're still holding out on the Sulfur TSB, as they had never seen it before I printed it out and brought it to them. More and more I want to get out of this truck... and out of Toyota dealers.

I just reveived an email from Toyota about the seat rattles & they are not doing anything about it. They are not planing on it either. I've brought my truck in over 5 times with this & Its time to the Lemon Law to step in. Toyota advised me to go to the GA State Lemon Law and take futher action thru them. Toyota said it might buy back the 4 runner. Which sucks since I do love my truck, but I can not stand driving it like that. I paid $32K for a vehicle with a lose seat?

Took mine in today finally for its first service.
They said they found "loose bolts" and tightened them. The seat is exactly the same. I guess this is going to be one of those unfortunate problems that never really gets fixed.
Oh, and when I pointed out a slightly off looking gasket around the sun roof glass, they decided they need to replace the entire thing! Okie dokey!
Gives me another chance to bitch about the seat when I go back next week.
So far, I am not impressed.

IMO I would not let the dealer replace my moon roof because of a gasket that looked a little off. If your roof does not rattle or leak I would not let them touch it. Toyota assembles these 4runners in the top rated automotive factory in the world. I would not want a tech at a local dealer touching it unless it was really broken. You might end up with some real on going problem.
Well I talked with them about it and they pointed out that the sun roof isn't sitting flush (and it isn't). The gasket seems to be slowly coming loose at one side, so I would imagine it will end up leaking.
I don't have much faith in that allegedly good factory at this point.

I don't suppose I would consider these two problems (seat and roof) as that big of a deal (so long as they eventually fix them).
But I am coming off of a true hunk of crap Oldsmobile my wife bought back in 98. That pile of junk had more parts replaced than any car I have ever heard of. Even the damned dash board!
So I bought a TOYOTA thinking I could kick back a bit and not think about how much cheap crap is foisted on the consuming public for once.
I was wrong.
But I am coming off of a true hunk of crap Oldsmobile my wife bought back in 98. That pile of junk had more parts replaced than any car I have ever heard of. Even the damned dash board!
So I bought a TOYOTA thinking I could kick back a bit and not think about how much cheap crap is foisted on the consuming public for once.
I was wrong.

Sorry to hear you have had such vehicle problems. Long term I think you will love your 4runner. I've owned several Lexus, Mercedes, Porsches, etc. and this 4runner is really well made for the $$$. I know that the seats in the SE and SR5 models are not the highest quality and that Toyota has had some problems with the sun roof, but the rest of the vehicle is bullet proof. My seat creaked, I just put it in the lowest position and no more problems. I don't like or use sun/moon roofs and will never open mine so I should never have a problem with it (mine is sealed and aligned correctly). I think you made the right vehicle choice, and Toyota has a good reputation for standing behind any problems. Good luck.

as the Japanese buyers are very picky.

I dropped my T4R off at the dealership last week to have them see if they could fix, tighten, or replace my drivers seat. They had the truck for 4 hours and said they were not able to tighten it or make any adjustments. The weird thing is, ever since I have not experienced any popping or creaking in the seat?!? 
On a side note, I drove a new 2005 T4R will manual seats and it had the exact same problem.

When my dealer attempted to fix my seat a few months ago (they replaced the seat frame), it actually made the problem worse.
Before, just the front portion that moves was rattling. Now the whole seat moves.
They called a few days after the appointment to see if I was satisfied with the service. I said no, since the seat is worse now than it was before. He said, "Yeah, there's just no fix for that problem."
I need to get it inspected by the end of November. When I take it in, I'm going to have them fix the sunroof rattles, and also tell them to fix the seat again. I'm going to actually talk to the service manager before I take it in, and tell them the "yeah, there's just no fix for it" excuse doesn't fly. I didn't spend $35,000 for a vehicle with a defective seat.
I'm thinking. Maybe if we all call the 1-800 Toyota customer service number, and do it repeatedly, just flood them with calls about these seats, if they will do anything about it?

Mine was in today to replace the sunroof. Still no satisfaction on the seat, but I am going to try talking to Toyota about it before I hassle the dealer further. They are nice enough about it.
They appear to have done a perfect job of replacing the sunroof. No damage to the headliner and it operates with no problems. Nice to not have to think about that seal with rain season just starting here.
