Just drove from the Gulf Coast to Utah, and back...3,600 miles in my 03 SR5 V6. The vehicle performed flawlessly...comfortable, plenty of room, and just plain fun to drive, on road and off!! Lots of high altitude driving, and lots of high-speed interstate mixed in. I was pleased with the mileage, often getting in the 22-24 mpg range. This weekend, I drove trhe SR5 600 miles to/from Arkansas, mostly interstate, at 70-75, and averaged about 22.2. So far, in town looks like about 17.5

Those are great numbers, Only4Gold. Did you read them from the computer or from measuring the gas and doing the math yourself?

I did watch the 4R's computer, but knew from previous postings here and on other boards to beware of its validity. So typically I did my own actual calculations of miles driven and gas consumed to come up with "reality" numbers.

Were you towing anything or did you have a heavy load? Those are some great numbers. I just wonder if you are on the top of the norm or in the middle of the norm. Either way, thanks for the detailed info!!

I have been keeping track of my MPG of my 03 4Runner, 2WD, V8 since I bought it new in March 03. Keeping track is easy on a Palm.

- The computer always displays 3 mpg more than actual. It's consistent so it's useful.

- I always calculate my MPG using miles driven divide by gallons filled. I have 7600 miles now and the average real MPG over 7600 miles is 19.75 mpg. The lowest was 18.29 mpg and the highest was 21.56 mpg. I drive every day to/from work in the Los Angeles traffic jams and the average mph is usually about 25 mph so I consider it as all city driving, even though I was moving slowly on the freeway

I don't baby my 4Runner either and I'm really impressed with the mileage.

The numbers I posted previously were using mostly 89 octane, but in some places there wasn't a middle grade, so I used 91 octane. The vehicle was pretty much loaded with gear, enough that the rear end sat lower than normal, but not towing anything. I drive mostly at the posted speed limit on the Interstates, 75 is pleny fast enough.

Here's my average so far

I've got 2100 miles on my '03 4wd V6 4Runner and my calculated average so far is 18.7 mpg. My dash computer usually runs 1.9 miles per hour higher. My highest so far has been 19.7 and my lowest 18.4 so my driving, which is generally rural non-interstate, must be pretty consistent.

i get 15.7mpg in city driving only
I also have a 250lb brush guard hooked up to the front.

Highway driving only, I can only assume 19-20 at the best.
