03+ Runner with 06+ grill

Does anybody from San Diego have an 06+ that doesn't mind me looking at their grill? PM me. Thanks in advance.

Somehow, I didnt need to see that video. I thought it would get better at some point. I was wrong.

Sounds like a cool mod tho.

The video isn't clear enough, but I don't think it would work without replacing the headlights and trim piece below the headlights and bumper. The 2006+ grille would overlap into the headlight of the 2003-05. If you look at the 2006+ headlight swaps done for the 2003-05, you'll see the there's a tiny triangular gap/hole by the grille in the inside corners.

The other thing is I'm not sure how much farther down (lower) the grille goes on the 2006+. My bumper has a flat recessed area in the middle where the grille is and the sides by the headlights are higher up.

Yes.. if you have that trim piece, maybe the installation of an 06 headlight and grille will be a direct replacement..

Those guys in the video may have cut some parts there..

Would be really cool to find some more info on how that mod was done. I'd probably step up and do it if I had something to work with.

looks like they shaved some on the corners, its possible, just gota be careful not to cut too much on the grill or it will be wasted.

Yeah, for sure you'd have to do some fitment work. I'm sorta curious if the grill would just bolt right on aside from the cutting involved. I wonder if the mounting is the same aside from the lower "bumper areas."

On a somewhat related note, I also wonder if there are any Jaos or Modellista grilles still around for purchase? The whole reason I am looking into grill mods in the first place is to get a good fitment for the 06+ projectors.

I know it's a lot of bother, but I would guess that those grilles would change things up enough to make the little headlight gap less noticeable.

T4RSpectreSix, you and I are on the same page. I just bought a cheap 06 housing on ebay to toy around with. I want to purchase a color keyed grille next and try it together, but am reluctant to throw down so many bones unless I know how its gonna come out, so I'm looking for a cheap one first.
