03 SR5 4runner climate control problems

Hello, Iam having a issue with my climate control. The model of my vehicle is a V8 sr5. What it is doing is basically unless you turn it down to 66 deg. or low it blows hot air and it doesn't matter if it is 30 deg. or 60 deg. outside. So I'm curious if there is a separate thermostat that controls the climate control that maybe could have gone out. If anyone else has any other suggestions on what it might possible be feel free to put it out there ..

I have noticed the same thing on my 06.. Seems like you have to be below 70 for cool air to come out.. Otherwise it's hot.

I have this same problem in my '03 SR5 V6 4Runner. It just started happening.

With a 30 degree morning, if I put the controls on manual and activate fresh air, it blows warm air if I set the temp control to 65, but then goes cold at "LO". If I increase the temp from LO to 65 it is a noticeable increase in temperature, then it is almost hot air at 66 -70, and little difference between 70 and 85.

Anyone have any idease?

Thanks.

yes, i advise using the search, there are a few threads that may give you the info needed.

I used the search and came up with most of the time it is the interior air temp sensor becoming disconnected/dirty. Mine was properly connected (no aftermarket stereo, alarm, etc - the vehicle is completely stock), and the air hose was properly attached.

Does anyone have the resistances that the interior air sensor should read? I would hate to have to buy a whole HVAC control panel if it's something simple.

Thanks.

Thanks, chaz, but it's not a problem with the A/C. With no A/C on and cold outside temps (and in manual mode), unless the temperature control is set to LO, I get warm air out the vents. In the past, there was litttle difference between Lo and 65, and the air temp would gradually increase as you increased the temperature setting. Now, it blows cold on LO, and at 65 the air out of the vents is warm, and by a setting of 68, the air coming out of the vents is hot (little or no difference between a setting of 68 and 80). Keep in mind, this is in manual mode on the climate control and very cold outside temps (around 30F), with no A/C on.

Something is not right, I just don't know where to start. I know on my Accord, the temp knob just turns a servo ahead of the heater core to allow more or less coolant flow through. It seems some people who have had this problem had the interior air temp sensor somehow disconnected or the vent tube blocked. My inside temperature sensor is properly connected, but I don't know if the resistance is correct.

I should add that I can hear the damper door move when I put the temp setting to LO and then to 65, but I have a feeling that the door is opening too much above 65. The servo is operating the door, so maybe it just needs to be re-indexed. Is there a way to re-index the flapper door?
