Eh - I kinda got the fuse block out. Enough to check the relays on the back. I can't get to it too closely though to check for the black spots. I'll try again tomorrow!

ME TOO! We'll see, if my mechanic buddy can't help me I'll probably bring it to the dealer. I've done most of the work for them - can't be TOO hard to figure the rest for someone who knows what they're dong.

I think that if you heard a sizzling sound and you smelled a faint burning smell, that you now have burnt wiring somewhere. You may want to disconnect your battery and ohm in the circuit, looking for a short to ground. You can use individual fuses to isolate where the short is or isn't.(unless the short is no longer there, then you will look for an open circuit or a lack of voltage)

HMMMMMMM - interesting.
I attempted to be very flexible earlier today and get my head underneath the stearing wheel with my feet over the headrest (quite the workout!)
I thought maybe I would see SOMETHING odd. I did see what appeared to be some kind of residue on a white\green wire going into a junction box alllll the way up in the dash.
How can I test if that's the problem?
According to the schematics you so generously posted (THANK YOU!), the white green wire goes to some kind of junction box having to do with the ignition switch - which is clearly a part of my problem. HMMM - I FEEL LIKE WE'RE GETTIN' CLOSE!
Also, In schematic #3, what is the 1D with the little 5 over it on top where the W/G wire starts? (What does that represent?)

Well, after mannnny hours of trying to figure it out, I caved and brought it to the dealership. They claim it took them three hours to find what they think is the problem - an "integration relay", which they claim is $550 to replace. The said if this is the problem, my total bill will be about $950.
Does this sound accurate??? I feel like I'm being taken for a ride, but who knows...

That sounds like bs to me. I haven't seen anything called that in the schematics. But like you said who knows. It would also be the most expensive relay I have ever heard of. I guess thats why the folks here call it the $tealership. Let us know where this relay is located, I would surely like to know.

Not sure but they did have to put some labor into it. You get ECU's for that kind of money, not relays. The only thing that comes close is the "IG Relay" in the main underhood fuse box, but not sure if this has something to do with the ignition, or just seat heaters. Can you pull this relay and test it? Maybe it is related to other circuits (drmorbius, what do you think?) but I doubt it because I don't have this relay in my SR5. Do you have working seat heaters? Did you replace the 50A AM1 or 50A J/B (this one is my guess.) Did they give you any info on which circuit this is for? If not, then press them for details.
The wiring diagrams are available from an old post by user GoodTimes. Search for and download them.

I called around at the part actually does cost $550.
Now the question becomes what does it actually do????
It's listed on my paperwork as "BLOCK ASSY, DRIVE". Part number 82730-35350.

I would question why this would need changing and not just a burnt connection, unless of course you melted the block to the point that it is distorted.
