'04 LTD OME's and 285/70R17 Cooper Disc STTs

Finally got around to getting some pictures after Dave (crozhawk) and I did the install on my 4runner. It's all ome stuff. I can't remember all the nomenclature but I'm diggin' it so far. It's all the medium stiffness stuff with springs and struts front and rear... Even found a mud puddle to drive through before the pictures

I'll probably do a 1.25in BL yet but I'm really happy with it as is.

Are you using the Spidertrax spacers to get the 285's to clear the a-arms? I know Dave uses them.

dave's running about a 315 sized tire so he couldn't possibly run without the spidertrax. The 285s clear the UCAs by about 1/4in without spacers. I wasn't comfortable with that on road or off, especially off, so I got the spacers as well.

I don't think it's the weight so much as the gear reduction the larger O.D. tires technically cause. I'm sure the heavy tires don't help but I think being larger they remove some mechanical advantage and make the truck seem a little less "peppy". I don't mind at all, and there's enough torque to make up for it.

Thanks, it's all OME suspension components. I think it provides about a 3" lift all around.

All that comes to $810 but I think if you call the guys at toyteclifts.com you'll find they have kits available for whatever you want to do. I lurked around the boards here for a few months and snagged parts from people as they were upgrading or downgrading or whatever. I only bought the shocks new and picked up the springs used for about $200 for all 4 IIRC. I got my tires at eastcoasttire for $800, sold my old tires for $200 and got help from croshawk on the boards here with the install so my total out of pocket expense was like $1200 to make my truck look like that. patience helps the wallet man. anyway, here's a link to the 4Runner section at toytec http://www.toyteclifts.com/03074runnercart.html#03074runnerfrontliftopts

yeah, the front mud flaps have to go and there's a bit of cutting needed on the wheel well liner plastic parts and even on the actual plastic fender itself front and back. I'll try to get some pictures of what I cut but it won't harm the look of your rig. If you want to do it, do it and worry about the cutting later.

I LOVE those tires, im putting them on my jeep when the current ones wear out. It makes your 4runner look so aggressive.

Do they make new gears for the 4th gens, V8's? What would be a good gear ratio with 33" tires? It would be nice to keep the pep the V8 has with the 33" tires. If they are available, I bet their expensive.

I don't miss it at all. still feels very quick for a 4k+lb vehicle

@ 33's your kinda at the limit with stock. 4.56's are the way to go for up to 35's. For the 4th gen you have to do some homework to get the right stuff. It's a combo of Yukon and Allpro stuff ....and yes, it's quite expensive. (somewhere around $3500 w/out lockers)
