05 4Runner vs Drunk/High Driver...

Thats that you get for having State Farm ---- Without a doubt the best insurance company I have ever had to deal with. I am glad to hear everything worked out well.

So ---- is it safe to assume that you will be buying another 4Runner?

I have to agree that State Farm is one of the best insuarance companies. It has taken care of my Mom and Dad for years and now my Home and Auto insuarance is covered by them.

Get that 4WD that you always wanted! ;):

I haven't seen the 06 in person so I need to go to the dealer at take a look. Tough decision, so many options. Here's what I'm thinking...

Option 1: Get the 06 version of the exact 4Runner I had (Sport V6 2wd, leather, JBL 6 In dash CD, spoiler, sunroof, etc.)

Option 2: 06 SR5 V6 4wd with the above options

Option 3: 2005 Limited V6 2wd (same options)

I'm pretty much banking I get a 4Runner again. I was overwhelmingly impressed with it.

And yes, State Farm rocks!

I used to work for GEICO, and I can tell you that when an accident was NOT your fault, and you have to use your insurance because they are uninsured, your rates SHOULD not be affected. FYI-If you were hurt, your insurance will pay for the medical bills as well as a Bodily Injury Claim (Pain and Suffering). Not too many people know that one.

On a lighter side--that is one way to get rid of your POS Dunlops!

Great outcome! You and your passenger are ok and you get a new vehicle.

On a lighter note; Thank God you had a Sport - that hood scoop probably saved your life...

Hood Scoop 4Runners Rule!

Yeah --- my hood scooop gives me approx. 73 HP and provides for 13% greater structural integrity for head on and offset colllisions.

Two things really surprise me after seeing the pictures and reading the account:

The engine was still running after this big impact.

The battery was still connected and working, even though (if I remember correctly) it's right there on the driver's side at the front of the engine compartment.

As for the lack of "damage" to the folks inside, I think that's partly due to the action of the seat belt pre-tensioners. They're usually triggered along with the airbags and pull the belts up extra tight even before the airbags are fully deployed.

And mandercruso, let me say I'm glad that the most important outcome of the incident (your lack of injury) was a good one. All the rest, totaled 4Runner or not, pales in comparsion.

I hope this brings up a good poing. Everyone should be adjusting their head rests accordingly before getting into their 4runner. I've adjusted my 4rnr headrest after an accident in my other vehicle, and even though I'm not the shortest 5'9'', I definately had to raise it a few clicks.

mandercruso, your injury may get worse over time i.e. the real pain may not come out for another 6 months

So keep an eye on this suckker and make sure he doesn't win the lotto and move away.

i have always wondered what's the correct position/height for the headrest.

is the top of the head rest at the same height as top of the head, or slightly lower, or slight higher than the head?

thanks.

Well, I came home with an 06 Sport V6 2WD Galactic Gray tonight! I went with the spoiler and sunroof. I'm getting the TRD leather installed soon.

I decided against the JBL Synthesis 6 cd player this time.... I got an iPod tonight instead ;)

Pictures will be up soon!

Congrats on your rnew ride and your ipod, a definite must have for our runners. What made you go with GG? After seeing pics of your (1st) 4runner I decided to go with white!

Since I had such a bad experience with the white vehicle, I decided it was time for a change lol. I also decided on getting a new license plate because I could have just used my old one. I dunno.. superstitous maybe?
