06 Bug Shield

Emailed my parts guy last week this was the response I got.....

Still using last legs of my film camera so can't post picture. It was installed by the dealer as part of my negotiated price. My wife's 04 4R bug shield says Toyota on one end. Mine doesn't. It fits quite well including the space on either side of the front grill and the healights so it's obviously made for the vehicle. It fits a little closer to the hood (1/2 inch or so) where by wife's is about an inch above the hood. Perhaps offers slightly less protection to the windshield but very good for leading edge of hood. My 06 is silver and the shield is a dark smoked color. Looks quite nice.

Toyota part # for an 06 is PT427-89060
Looks like it is expected in November of 06, but the way accessories have been going lately, I wouldn't be surprised if they pushed it back again. I have 8 on backorder right now.
If it doesn't say Toyota on it, then it isn't a Toyota part, probably an aftermarket they found to put on. Salesman do this all the time.
If you have to drill holes, it isn't a Toyota part. Toyota will use pre-existing holes to attach theirs.

For those who are interested in a 2006 bug shield, I went to autoventshade.com, put the vehicle information in and it states they have one for the 2006 4Runner, part# 25428 (smoke) 25428-C (clear) I found one of their dealers in Chicago (Accessories Unlimited Ph# 773-247-0983) and picked it up for under $50.00.
Its not hard to put on, you have to unloosen the grill and place the shield in between the grill and the hood, then tighten the grill back up. Then there is a rubber piece that goes into a hole located on each side of the hood. Thats all to it.
I have not been on the highway with it yet but will do so as soon as possible.
