didnt read the whole thread, my buddy has an 06 and hes looking for a shield.

the one you have looks funny cause it has the holes next to the grill. he saw one that had the "fangs" that filled it in. ill ask him for you guys. he paid 75.

First time poster - I was just wondering if there was any new information on the bug shields for an '06 4 Runner.

ha! I just asked my parts guys yesterday when I picked up my new painted front grill. He said there was no update, they still showed late November for the '06. I gave up on it a few months ago. Anything that is taking this long to engineer so it doesn't fall off or can be put on with out driling will make me wonder about it when it does come out.

I got a bug shield from carson toyota. It has the fangs. It fits fine on my 06 sport. I paid about 75 bucks or so. you have to take off the grill to put it on and then you sandwich the deflector between the grill and the hood with weatherstripping tape.

For those who are interested in a 2006 bug shield, I went to autoventshade.com, put the vehicle information in and it states they have one for the 2006 4Runner, part# 25428 (smoke)

Stopped by the stealership on Monday for a warranty issue and the parts guy said that the bug shield for the `06's are being shipped. He gave me PT427-89060 as a Toyota part number and an approx. cost of $142.00

I called my dealer, Marietta Toyota, and they have the bug shield in stock in their warehouse for my 2006 4Runner. I'll pick one up tomorrow at lunch. ! Very cool!

I put the Toyota bug shield on my truck this afternoon. The instructions are poorly written or I'm daft. Not sure which one, but I finally got the thing on. It's pretty easy once you figure out what goes where and which bracket is which.

One piece of advice. The instructions state to use a blanket over the engine to catch loose parts. Heed this advice. I lost one of the screws and had to go to home depot to find the replacement. I guess I'm lucky that's all I lost.

Thanks for the information and the great photograph of the installed deflector. I assume there was no drilling required? How long did the installation take? (not counting the trip to Home Depot?) <grin>

Nope, no drilling required. Once I figured out where the brackets should be placed and which brackets to use it took less than 30 minutes from start to finish. Not bad at all.

hi, just wondering if you can take a pic of the underside of the hood where it is attached, and also, how much did the dealer one cost? I am debating if i want the burtman one which is above the grill or this dealer one that seems to cover the top of the grill....
