06+ Front Bumper on a 03-05?

I think I've met my quota on threads started this year so I will be brief.

Will a 06+ bumper fit on a 03-05 4 runner without any modifications? Obviously I'd have to buy new foglights, etc.

I have a little bit of damage to my bumper and I was considering getting an 06+ bumper because I've always like the foglight design much better but figured it probably wouldn't work.

Why couldn't Toyota have put all the 06+ improvements to start out with on the 03 and beyond???

You would need more than just the front bumper cover to make it work. Just look at the fender flares and you'll see that they won't match up from '05 to '06.

BTW, the only thing I like better about the front end on the '06 is the projector headlights. Everything else looks better on the '03 to '05 front end. We have projector foglights and a nicer grill, IMO. The '06 nose appears to sit a little lower to the ground also, so I think our style front bumper looks better with more clearance under it. Just my opinion...no offense to any of the '06+ guys...

Where the fender flares and the bumper meets won't line up, there's a taper on the 2006+. It's straight on the 2003-05. Also, the 2006+ has rounded wheel openings vs. the squared off of the 2003-05.

Toyota and most manufacters factor in this mid-cycle/generation refreshes. It helps keep the product fresh and gives people reason to buy mid-generation, rather than wait for the next generation or redesign.

Thanks for the input guys. I assumed the 06+ foglights were projectors also. I still like the look of the 06 bumper a little better but not worth trading up to get an 06+.
