Were those OEM or were they an upgrade? The brochure for the 2006 still states "black running boards". Those are probably an OEM upgrade that you can already get. Can anyone confirm this?
The more I look at them they just look like a Westin upgrade. There are other pics of the limited 2006 floating around and they show the black running boards on them. Do a search for 2006 limited and you will find them. You may not have to wait as long as you think, I bet you can buy them now.

I have the ones in the picture and they are Toyota OEM. I believe the ones in the 2006 picture though seem to curve inwards around at the ends. They look like Westin bars but I could be wrong. The ones pictured in this thread are very nice. I will post pic when I have a chance. I have them on my 2005 black SE.

Believe it or not I only paid about $60 for my brand new set on EBay about 7 months ago. The seller no longer sells them. He was selling them with frame and rocker mounts. Someone else has hem but they are over $200. The first ones pictures are the ones that I have and they are much wider than the new ones. I would almost say about twice the size. I think the new ones look flimsy and small. Almost too small. Just my opinion.

How do you like the tubes vs. the stock boards? I've taken the boards completely off before and though I like the look, I don't like seeing the undercarriage. I also know the stock boards protect the side of the truck a little from road debris.
I WISH I could find them for $60 with all the hardware!

06' Sport Tubes
I've seen the 06 SE's as they are delivered to the Port of Long Beach CA. They don't have roof racks or side tubes when they arrive. I assume they are installed at the port prior to dealer delivery. I plan to make a few calls to the Toyota facility at the port and see if I can get the part #'s.
I will post if/when I have any info.

I too wonder how much the tubes would protect against rock chipping. While I didn't really want the stock "boards" at 1st, because they can cause problems off-roading, they have grown on me. Plus the fact that the women in my life actually use the things.
OK, I'll also confess that they really come in handy to step on while cleaning the windshield & other things like that!

I like the looks of the tubes way better then the cheap looking black ones. I can only imagine how much they would be from Toyota though. I would think the tubes wouldn't give as much protection from road debris either.
For anyone that has them, do they feel as sturdy as our factory black ones? My buddy just bought an 02 XTERRA and it comes with those tube running boards. I was standing on the one side and bounced on it a little bit and it felt cheaper then our black ones. Anyone know?

I just put some on my 3rd gen and they're very sturdy. I would assume just as sturdy as the running boards that were replaced. The only thing I notice is that they are higher up and have less space to step.

I like them a lot more then the black ones. One of the main reason's is because they sit up higher and tighter against the body. That and the silver will match the roof rack really well.ebelen1 said:
