06 Sport...OME 884/5100 and SAW 2"/5100 installed

So, I just finished installing my lift today. It took roughly 5 hours and only cost $35. We were able to use a high bay and free access to all the shops tools for $5/hr. Amazing deal if you consider most shops were going to charge around $500-600. We could have got everything on quicker but we took our time and double checked everything.

I installed the OME 884s up front with the Bilstein 5100 set the 2nd notch (.85"). I went with Sway-A-Way 2" coils for the rear and of course, the 5100s. My measurements are as follows:

DF: 38"
DR: 38.25"
PF: 38.5"
PR: 38.75"

These are a bit higher than expected, and, although it looks awesome, I hope it settles some for less worries and problems down the road. It rides great and isn't as stiff as I thought it would be with the 884s being preloaded by the Bilstein. So far, I am very happy with the install...now it actually feels like a truck. :guitar3:

Thanks guys! I've been waiting forever and its finally lifted.

Casper-Get that stuff on man! It will feel like a new truck. It feels weird being higher than suburbans and full size trucks at the red lights now...in a good way.

Thanks, i'm happy with the outcome. Actually, it hasn't been in for an alignment yet. I live extremely close to the garage and have another car I drive to work, so it was driven straight home and parked until I do get it aligned. I was actually surprised how well it tracked on the drive home...75 mph and only a slight pull to the left. No weird vibes or anything. However, as with any lift this size, the caster is visibly off.

Thanks. I like them too...although I cant say that my factory suspension was all that bad as I had the XREAS. However, the 5100 and OMEs really stiffen out the corners even better.

I actually bought the 884/895 in a set. I was initially going to go with the 895 for the rear, but then I read some complaining of the stiffness when carrying no extra weight in the rear. Also, I wanted 2" lift max in the back and heard the 895s could potentially lift the rear 2.5-3". I found a really good deal on a brand new set of the SAWs, they're only 12% stiffer than stock, and they lifted 2"...perfect fit.:thumb3:

I'm still hoping it will settle a bit though as i'm right around 38-38.5" for the front...higher than I expected. I've got the diff drop im gonna throw on it in a few days so hopefully that will lessen the CV angles a tiny bit (major diff or not, its only $39 and worth it IMO for my lift).

Yea, that would be a last resort. I've heard mixed reports on their lift...some say 2.25" and some 2.5". Its also worth noting that most people run the .75" topout spacer with them to get the full 3" OME lift...which would mean ~2.25" of lift for the 884s. I was expecting around 3.15-3.4" lift with my current setup after settling. However, i will consider lowering them for my CV angles if it doesn't.

Thought I would post up some pics of my CV angles. I really hope these improve some as they make me a little uncomfortable in their current condition. I don't do any crazy off roading, plan on doing the diff drop (that tiny difference should prove worthwile here), and intend to keep a close eye on the fins for rub points/leaks (will reclamp as needed) so hopefully all will be ok. I did notice some grease when I was checking everything this morning around both inboard clamps (the worst angled boots IMO), but the grease was black and caked on so I dont think it was from the boots themselves...at least not recently.

Thanks man. I hope the bug will slowly start do die now that I finally have it lifted. Ha....famous last words. Definately, I may drive it up there in a couple weeks but for now i'll probably just drive it enough to let it settle until I can get an alignment.

The rig looks perfect!! :thumb3: Its exactly what you wanted. I forget, are you sticking with the 265's or going up to 285's? I cant wait to put mine on! I went with the superflex coils, i hope it wont sit to high. Keep up the good work!! :bravo:

Thanks, its actually better than I was expecting. Its higher and the ride is great. I did find a little CV grease leaking from the inboard passenger boot after driving it home from work today. But I'm not too worried about it as that clamp is said to be crappy from the factory anyway and prone to leak before anything else. Ill reclamp and inject as needed...plus there's always gorilla tape if they tear. Ha. These axles seem pretty tough and I really don't want to give up my lift unless I absolutely have to.

I wasn't sure if I would like the 265s with 4" lift...but I really like it. For some reason, I didn't like the look online. In person, it looks great. As soon as these wear out, I'll probably be upgrading to 265/70/18s. Exact tire just one size larger rim. Should be the sweet spot as exact same weight while still being taller (ideally same mpg with ~33" tire). Not sure why nobody else runs this size.

Very nice!! I saw leave the running boards off and get a nice set of sliders! I like the look of it without the running boards.

Yea, sliders would be nice but I dont want to spend the money. I like the look with them off....but I also like the look with them on too. Ha. I've taken them off before and i'm sure i'll put them back on at some point. I'm 6'2" and I have to make an effort get in so I may put them back on for my girlfriend when she drives it.
