07 4.7 V8 aftermarket intake help please.

So I was having clearance issues with my tires and inner fenders so I cut them out and am finishing up a core support. I wanted more room in the engine bay for bigger shocks and an engine cage.

I just can't figure out a spot to remount my factory airbox, I've tried every kind of angle and location, it's tall and a really awkward shape, I'm in CA and from searching there are no CARB legal intakes that I have found that don't re-use the factory box.

Not super concerned with that but looking for a simple cone and tube intake that I can find a mount spot for a little easier. Pics online of most kits are pretty bad so who has one and do they have correct mounts for the Mass Air flow meter?

Has anyone found a Mass Airflow Adapter piece that works with the 4.7 sensor so you can just build your own intake setup?

Only need to run one for space otherwise I would run it stock.

Option 1: Measure everything twice and then try to source out all the proper conduit and adapters through a racing supply warehouse like Pegasus Racing.

Option 2: Find a reputable speed/race shop in your area that deals with forced induction and otherwise heavily modified vehicles. Most of these shops are well-versed in cutting and creating intake conduit for whatever the particular application.

I would guess your best bet would be the K&N intake with the tube and exposed cone filter and modify as needed

Well I sure tried to get an aftermarket intake shipped but it seems pretty locked down now to get an intake that isn't carb OE approved shipped to California so one of my friends machined me a block for the MAF sensor and I ordered a dry filter and some nice mandrel bent exhaust tubing and came up with this.
Seems like it will do the trick and gives me the room I need for shock hoops and an engine crossover brace.

I was going to suggest doing something like this, but now you're going to have issues with getting it smogged. I mean, there's always a "guy" but CARB and the BAR have been clamping down on that stuff pretty bad, not to mention I know in Southern California they have gotten themselves into the habit of doing road side smog checks.

All that aside, those are some beautiful TIG welds and that's a very professional looking set-up.

Thanks, Yeah I'm going to paint it all black and build a shroud/box around the air filter and I think it won't be so noticeable, I can still put the oem box in for smog, main clearance issue was for an engine cross brace from shock hoop to shock hoop which will be removable when I need room.
