'07 4R, rough shift in/out of 4X4

When I shift in/out of 4wheel drive while driving and while on a lift, with no load on the drivetrain, there is a LOUD BANG, as it shifts into 4X4.

If I switch into 2wd on the fly, the 4X4 light blinks till I'm stopped.

If I put the car into park or neutral and shift in/out, its quiet.


any ideas??

I rarely use 4wheel drive, but id say more recently
