08' wheel upgrade questions

Hello All,
This is my first post because I just got the 08' Urban Runner. I would like to upgrade to 20" wheels. I am looking at the A/R Black Trench and the XD Revolver. For tires I will go with the Nitto or Toyo a/t's. Does anyone know what I need to do to keep the tmps working properly? Can I just transfer the sensors to the new wheels? I have stock 18" wheels with 265/60/18 duelers. The dealer said I can only go 18" wheels. Is this true?
Thanks for the help. By the way there are some sweet looking 4runners you guys have posted here. Looking forward to upgrading mine and posting some photos.

The new rims you want has to be TMPS compatible and you would transfer them from your stock rims.

You don't need to stay with 18" only wheels, the 4th gen from the factory comes with wheels from 16" to 18" depending on trim. What they're probably saying is you should maintain the same overall diameter, this way it keeps the final drive ratios and speedometer (though there is debate about the overall accuracy of the speedo) accurate. Many here have upsized their tires with no ill effects from 265-65R17 to 265-70R17. Some have upgraded their 18" tires to 265-65 from the stock 265-70. You want to keep all four tires the same size.

Alright now I am shopping for wheels, what is the bolt pattern on the 08 runner? Is it 6 on 5 1/2 or 6x139.7? What is the offset, backspacing for the stock wheels?

Thanks Tom

6 on 5.5 or 6x139.7 is the same measurement.

If you are looking for 20's then the wheel width will be at least 8" possibly more. Try to get 0 offset up to -15mm. Backspacing is a function of wheel width, I'd say you need around 4"

Tire Pressure Sensors

Just to answer your question, I put 22s on my car and was able to put the stock tire pressure sensors in the new wheels. Also you should consider 22s cuz they look great on the 4th gens and it still drives great to.

OK I think I have picked a wheel. It is going to be the moto metal 957 in matte black. I need some help on deciding the size. I like the 20" or 18". I think I am partial to the 20's but am worried about tire size with my stock suspinsion. I don't want any rubbing. I am looking at the toyo open countries, nitto terra grappler and dune grappler. Anybody know what is the largest size I can go with no rubbing for 18" and 20"? What if I use the 1"leveling kit on the front, can I go bigger?

What are your plans for your stock 18's? I'm actually looking for a set to put on my '01 Tundra (the stock 16's are rather bland).

Let me know if you're interested in selling them and we can talk.

Thanks.

Can someone tellme if a 20" wheel with an offset of +40 mm and backspace of 6.262 OR a 20" wheel with an offset of +12 mm and backspace of 5.16 will work? I currently have 285/5-/20's on them. I am not good at this stuff.

I am very new to this website.

I am taking them off of my '07 Av. The bolt pattern is the same. I hope they fit.

Thanks for the help!
