1/9/19 - Toyota Expands Takata Air Bag Safety Recall : 2010-2016 4Runners

My dealer sucks. Took mine in yesterday, only to get a call an hour later telling me the part isn't there after confirming late last week it was. So, I have to go back later this week.

Happened to me yesterday, at least they told me right when I got there though so I was able to leave right away instead of coming back an hour later like your situation.

My part is now in and they are going to pickup and drop-off my vehicle tomorrow so I don't have to drive there again which is awesome!

May be worth asking if your dealer will do the same.

Just was looking to figure when to schedule my 60K-Mile servicing and finally got the recall notification. Looks like I should call ahead to see if I can get a couple of things done (along with the recall repair) done in one trip.

There is a video on the Toyota website with a short demo of the procedure using a sedan as the vehicle, for those asking about how the access is performed.

Had our done yesterday, and it appears that they didn't need to pull the HU, as I found no evidence of such (i'm running aftermarket with associated harnesses, etc)

It took just over 6 hours. seems my appointment was considered merely a 'drop off time' by the dealer, even though it was set for the option to wait

PM if you want the dealer, I'd recommend calling ahead and ensuring they don't backlog your appointment time with the assumption you'll just agree to leave it indefinitely...

Had mine done this morning. 4 hours, just like they said it would be. My question is why replace the driver's side A-pillar garnish when removing the passenger side airbag?

My VIN is on the list. I called to make Appt. They said it will have to be ordered and will keep in touch. I got a call back soon after and they informed me that it was on order status and they did not have a recall on mine as of yet. How many have had there's done already?. Maybe they are doing region to region first.

Done in 2 hours. Service Manager said his team has been doing a lot of these. Looked at the dash and all good.

Also don’t know if anyone mentioned but invoice also shows the new part number.

My 2016 SR5 Premium made the list. Scheduled for tuesday.

Were did you go?

Waldorf told me it was an all day job. Annapolis said a few hours.
so yesterday morning I went to Annapolis. 3 in total with some other minor things done while I was there.

Dropped mine this morning and just got a call ti was done. Sub 2 hour wait. Will pick it up this afternoon and report back.

Fix took a couple of hours. 4 Runner back in absolutely perfect condition. My Service Department has stepped up their game. A couple of gift cards and a 1/2 case of beer for my tech. Take care of my guys, and they take care of me. I was nervous, but all was fine.
