Waldorf told me it was an all day thing. Odd that they very so greatly.

I dropped mine off yesterday morning at 7:15a. I got a call at 10:30a saying it was all done. I inspected and there was zero evidence of any work having been done (good thing!). No scratches on the dash, no rattles. They offered a loaner but I declined and took their courtesy shuttle to work, and they picked me up for the return trip. I'm happy with the experience.

Curious why so many different time frames getting it replaced.
Something else I'm wondering about and I have not seen it mentioned is how many reports of the passenger airbag deploying normally, no schrapnel. Alot I would think in the 8 to 9 year span since the 2010 screw ups.
Not trying to make light of the seriousness of a faulty bag deployment but nationwide since 2010 wouldn't there be at least a million 4 runners across the country? (just a guess)
The NHTSA reports 23 deaths and 300 injuries. I think I stay up to date with the news more than the average Joe and never see a report on a faulty airbag injury or death from one. Google will find one but def not a regular occurence.
I'll be getting mine changed when it's available to do so. I just dread the process and the possible issues. I have little faith in any dealer.
EDIT: Just called the dealer, next Monday is my day. Said about 4 hours, passenger side of dash comes apart. Praying for a no rattle or otherwise F'd-up job.
I'll report back as to how it went.

I'm going to schedule my appointment in about 2 weeks, as I'm busy with work. Also, it gives me time to have some faith that the techs will learn how to replace the airbags more efficiently as they keep doing these recalls.

I'm in the PNW and my 2014 is scheduled for it's airbag replacement on 1/22 with Toyota of Seattle.

Did mine today. I was in and out in 1 hour. The dash wasn't a pleasant site. I didn't dare take a pic. [emoji44]

It's geared more towards for them working on the 5th gen T4R with ripping out whatever they need to rip out and put back together. Hopefully, everything is put back the way it should and there's no rattling!
I got mine done yesterday. It took about 3.5 hours. But I just noticed the dashboard is sloping towards the drivers side now. Big hole between the trim and the dash. I guess I'm due for a return trip tomorrow. I probably would have noticed at the dealership and made them fix it when I picked it up, but my 3 year old was having a meltdown because he wanted to keep the Tacoma they gave to me for the afternoon!

Dang man I hate to hear that. Mine only took an hour and everything seems really good so far. That's also including the 4 new center caps and changing up a few things on my programming. Make them get it right!!

Got mine done yesterday after a 2 year wait. Service advisor said Toyota will pay for 3 hrs. It took almost that long. Job was done right as usual from Kalispell Toyota. He also mentioned the techs do not like doing this job. It must be a PITA. Company that bought Takata will be sittin' in tall cotton after all the work is done b/c they bought Takata for a song and they have a large market share.

Mine was done this past Monday. Took just a bit over 4 hours. The service writer said they have just started doing them only the past couple of weeks as they did not have any replacements prior to that. I poured over it with a fine tooth comb and everything looked good and tight. Some greasy smudges on the passenger side dash that had been wiped off with a greasy rag so I took care of that and I'm pleased with it considering what they had to dismantle to do it. Those saying it only took an hour must have gotten the master dashboard installer from the Toyota factory to do the job. ;-)
On a more serious note with the reputations some of the more unscrupulous dealers have I wonder if any are just blowing it off and not doing any swap out at all. I'd hate to think so but these days nothing surprises me anymore. I've been told my 4runner was lubed when it wasn't, same with my Tacoma , so anyway I go to a trusted private shop now.
