I am just about to hit 100k in my 05 sr5 v8..(just purchased a macbook and searches are not working:confused: ) anyway, Im going to have my runner inspected and I am half expecting that a few parts are going to be needing replacements. Mostly driving related parts such as tires, springs, shocks (any others). my driving style is mostly highway/city/neighborhoods..commuting an such. Im looking for a more comfortable ride with less body roll while keeping an aggressive stance and look. Can anyone recommend the setup or parts I should be looking for? Thanks SO much!

PS: I do not have a lift (and i dont think im getting one. ehh)

I say go with some 5100 bilsteins and FJ springs, set the shocks at stock height and the springs will firm you up a touch and give you a slight lift. Probably your cheapest most effective route to reduce the body roll and improve driving characteristics.

Here's a link to the 5100s, but you can find them elsewhere for a bit more cost effective.

highly recommend going with 5100's and FJC coils as well. I love my setup and changed to the 5100/FJC setup almost immediately after I bought my rig (bought it with 92k miles on it and the suspension was tired). I also have an '05 SR5 V8 and I set the front setting at 1.75" to level it out. I'm going up more after I get my tires, raising it to top level in front, and putting Toytec Superflex springs in the rear to raise it 2".

When they do the belt, you might as well do the water-pump as well, nice expensive service! :)

I did the FJ upgrade at about 95k and love it. Got the parts for a low price and they only had 50 miles on them. They were from a 4wd FJ and had the Tokico shocks and built up struts.

Good luck finding a set - they are out there. Many owners kept them for years and are finally cleaning out the garage, etc.. and letting them go cheaply.

was regular service done at 90k? sounds like it might be time to replace your timing belt. oh and there is an excellent sticky in the 4th gen section concerning shocks and such

Sounds good, ill try and find that thread! About the timing belt im not sure.. Is there a way i can tell by looking at it? Im going to get my car inspected by our family friend mechanic soon..not sure if my shocks and springs and allll that are 'good'. im just using the common knowledge that 100k miles is defiantly a checkpoint!

I see! The thing is I dont know if it was changed at 90k. Can i tell if it needs to be changed by looking at it? Or does it have to be taken out to see?

ah ok, I was under the impression you had had your truck longer. well what about service history? and I think a mechanic should be able to tell you pretty easily if the belt has 10k or 100k on it

Ill take it in this week, and come back and let you know what he recommends on replacing! then maybe i can get insight on what i should buy for replacements! And I've had the truck since 0 miles odo. i got it around 50k when i was 16 though. best.first.car.

Then you would remember the belt, most get a package of work done for about $1000 when doing the belt.
