12,000 mile oil changes?

I've always used nothing but Amsoil Synthetics! I run their 0w30 Signature Series Oil and an Amsoil EaO Series Oil filter. With that combo you can safely go 1 year or 25,000 miles on an oil and filter service. However with most Toyota engines being prone to sludge build up... Amsoil recommends using a good quality engine flush prior to switching to Amsoil Synthetics. Also with a lot of Toyota models and other vehicles prone to sludge Amsoil reccomends changing your oil & filter every 15,000 miles or every year whichever comes first.

I'm 4K miles past 250K with conventional oil and filter

I'm gonna drop 6oz of MMO in the crank case today and switch to full synthetic 5w30 this weekend and a WIX 51348 filter

Wix makes excellent filters! I also use MMO... love that stuff!

I didn't see it so quickly when reading this thread, but cars/trucks driven in more stop and go traffic will have a service interval that's much closer together (3-4k) than a highway driven truck/car. Say you drive 100s of miles at a time and it's no stop and go, no hills, no crawling, you'll be able to reach that higher 10k oil change since you're not asking extra from your vehicle.

However, bumper to bumper traffic, revving/braking, stop/go, you'll put a ton of strain on the internals.

Drive smooth and don't have weird accelerations and you'll be able to stretch your intervals.

I drive a mix of both but I try to make the city driving as smooth as possible, and not drive when I don't need to
