12v Outlet driving me nuts

This is driving me nuts.

I have a 2004 4th Gen SR5 with 2 x 12V power outlets (one in the center console & in the back).
Both of them have some power... enough to power an LED, not enough to power a charger (regular cell phone charger). When I put a voltmeter on them, they are showing ~12V.
Tried multiple chargers in both outlets, still the same - enough power to light up an LED, not enough to power a charger.
Tested the charger in a different vehicle - they work fine.

Any ideas what is wrong?

be sure the fuse has a good connection and noone used a fuse tap to run an after market accesory

the chargers you are using suck?

Many members here my self included run multiple items off that same power feed.

Me for instance. I have the following on it, hardwired in.
-Passport 9500xi radar detector
-Dual DVD Headrest monitors
-Aftermarket seat heaters, both front seats

and OEM 12 socket with a dual2.1 Amp usb charger head for my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Phablet

OK, mystery solved.
I measured the voltage on the back of the power outlet. Without anything plugged ( ~12V) and with a charger plugged in ( ~5V) .... hmmmm.
Turned out I had a "Smart Fuse" that somehow was only partially blown.

Replaced the fuse and life is good again. :cheer2:

Please tell us more about smart fuses. I have never heard of these.

They are supposed to glow when blown for easier identification. Mine refused to glow or to act as a blown fuse.

Note to self: use regular fuse as others results indicate they do not work as advertised.
