14/15 trail fender mod?

Yes I searched, and yes i saw the post in the sticky. That is for pre 2014 bumpers. I just got 285s and I'm rubbing on the rear where the mudflap is, but I'm also rubbing on the edge of the bumper. I would imagine that adjusting the caster to move the tire forward would make this even worse. Has anyone else ran into this? I would prefer not to have to cut the actual bumper of my 2 month old car.

Undo that big silver phillips screw, slide the fender liner forward a bit, cut a new hole for the screw through the fender liner, and reattach. Just like the 2010-2013 models.

The edge of the bumper sticks into the wheel well farther than the liner does. As you can see in the picture.

I'm guessing your offset is causing the problem. I would move the fender liner forward then trim the bumper so it will clear. Only trim the horizontal part of the bumper on the bottom. Take off your mud flaps too if you can't trim them enough to get it to stop.

A write up isn't going to help you cut your bumper because everyone's is going to be different. Only a desire to not rub and big balls can help you cut your new bumper up.

Sorry I can't help more than that, I've got 285's and I clear the bumper by a inch to inch and a half. I did have to move the fender liner though.

The edge of the fender will cut with a simple boxcutter knife. Some use dremel cutting discs also. Turn your wheels until they make contact, mark it and make a shallow cut until you have clearance. I also had to remove my mudflap and cut an area out of them. Some just pull the front mudflap and leave them off.

I noticed that little edge on mine also, at first it looked weird to me like it was wrong or a defect because my 2013 was totally different . I think you should use a Dremel tool and cut it off nice and flush, little touch up paint on the end.

I think that's a typo. He would have a lot more problems with 285/75/17s

I just got my T4R back from the tire shop yesterday, same problem. Rubbing on the driver's front fender when in reverse. You may not want to cut it, but at least you have 100% control over the outcome. If you leave it and your tire gets hungry and munches your fender, it will for sure look ugly. It's a plastic bumper on a vehicle that was intended to be modified. None of us think twice about yanking out a 2 month old suspension and stock tires with only 1000 miles on them, a little bumper trim should be no big deal.

very true. I forgot i had a dremel, i sanded it down on both sides and pushed the fender liner forward on one side (i was short on time), and it no longer rubs on that side, but still rubs on the other side. Ill have to take a little more off tonight.


fender liner mod on a 14+ is pretty much pointless without trimming the bumper too.

You should be able to do the modification in such a way that it looks factory... It's just cheap plastic. I use tin snips...

I remember being hesitant when I first cut mine LOL. Now I'm very comfortable cutting off all kinds of stuff.

The more you off-road these things the more you want to cut off.
