'14 mounting lights behind grill?

I have a 2014 Trail.

I've noticed a lot of off road lights have grills over the lights and that doesn't seem to effect them.

It occurred to me that if I took a pair of say, Hella Black Magic lights, and mounted them behind the actual trucks grill, that would look clean. There seems to be a lot of space to do this.

Has anyone done this? Has anyone done anything similar with perhaps another vehicle?

Thanks ... I know about searching. It's a running joke these forums, but the problem here is information overload and getting the right keywords.

Anyone have bad experiences with this kind of set up?
