Hey Guys, I just picked up a 15' Trail Ed. I'm super stoked and ready to get out on the trails. However I think I may have jumped the gun. I lasted one day before the stock tires ( you've got to be kidding Toyota) before ran to Tirerama. Long story short they had 285/70R17 Cooper ST Maxx in stock so I through them on, at the same time talking to a guy at Toytec (Tanner), because the front rubbed a bit on the liner during the test fit. No big deal I can do the mod. I told him since it's so new I wanted to keep the stock shocks (to keep cost down) and just gain a bit of clearance on the front for the new shoes. He recommended, and its on the way, OME 884s and a spacer for the rear. Will that be cool? I figured the shocks have 85 miles on them..what could it hurt? I appreciate the help. Oh yeah pics. I'll get action shots later... Trust me lol.

It will work, won't be ideal, but will get you by for a bit. I would just do the OME shocks and rear springs at the same time and call it done for a while, but that is just me.
Yep, stock tires are poop. People will always chime in saying how adequate they are for most everything and how awesome the trail edition is out of the box, but I just LOL and look for them on the side of the trail with a torn sidewall or rock through the tread. They are not meant for off-road use. Maybe soft dirt paths, but not rocks.

I know what you mean on the 'new - shocks/vehicle'. I went with the Toytec spacers installed over the coils with a diff drop kit. I had so many other items I felt were a higher priority that I wanted to wait till I had a few more miles on it. My plan is around 30k or so (hopefully I mess them up sooner
) i'll installed the Icon I keep hearing SO much about. I think you will be fine as i'm running the same setup now for almost 8k miles and haven't had an issue. I have done trails/rocks/snow etc for about 500 of the 8k miles...Happy Wheeling!

Seems like you are on the right track. There are so many options out there to gain clearance. I went with the bilstein 5100 option. good luck with the 15' and the build.
I also have a 2015 Trail and I would highly recommend saving up and purchasing a new suspension system asap. My wife and I are both running the BOSS Ultimate kit from Toytec and it is an awesome kit. Improves the drivability on and off-road dramatically. It is expensive but will protect your investment in the long run as spacers will wear out your stock suspension faster. Just my .02
Thanks for all the replies guys. I totally agree it's not optimal to run the stock shocks, but after dropping big coin on the ride its self I don't have the bank roll to finance a lift kit even if I wanted to right now. After reading everything I'm just gonna roll with this set up and start saving for a full kit. Again y'all are awesome , and I appriciate the input.
