16's on an '04?

Hello, 4Runners! Been creeping on this forum for a while, and have finally decided to register. I've got a 2004 SR5 4Runner with some god-awful 18-inch rims (not OEM) with even worse looking tires courtesy of the previous owner. Picture to come later.

After searching through this forum for the past hour or so, I can't seem to find a satisfactory answer for my question. A buddy of mine recently upgraded his 03 SR5's wheels and is willing to sell me his. They're the 16-inch OEM steel wheels that came on his Runner from the factory. Only thing is, I'll have to drive a few hours to go get em. I've seen concerns about the 16" steelies not fitting later 4th gens. Anyone know if that would be the case on my 04? Thanks for the help!

And by all means, feel free to bash me if the answer is out there and I've just missed it :becky:

Edit: Original equipment on my Runner: 265-65/R17. Yes, I know it's a downgrade, but hey...the wheels are available and cheap :becky: Actually, the biggest reason is tire cost and availability locally. Current wheels I'm running are 245-60/R18

I believe on an SR5 you'll be fine but I'll let others chime in.

On that note I have a set of stock sport 17s from my 05 in great shape. No tires though

Look at your door jam and see what are the original size. If it states the 17", good posability you might have the bigger brake calipers.

Clearance thing you know.

Check your calipers just to make sure

Stamped 13WG = small = 16's WILL fit
Stamped 13WH = big ( irememebr at as H = huge) = NO 16's because they won't clear the calipers.

Keep in mind running 16's will preclude you from running larger brakes should you ever want to do the upgrade.

That being said, I have 16's on my rig and they look great :naughty:
