1986 A/C Hose Cracked (Near Dryer)

1986 Toyota 4Runner 4WD 4 cylinder non-turbo

There is a small metal hose that leads from the dryer to the condencer (i think). that is cracked at the connection point. I cant find the name of this part and am unsure where to find a replacement. Can anyone help? Thanks...

I'm not familiar with the first gen routing, however if you can verify that it is the smaller diameter of the two AC lines, I can tell you that it will be the high pressure line from the condenser (front of the vehicle) to the accumulator.

edit: searching rockauto.com, I could only find one AC hose... and that appears to be the low pressure side. If you are unsuccessful, bring your fitting and hose with you to a shop that specializes in hydraulic hoses. (EVCO/house of hose for example... but I don't know what they have in your area) They will be able to build a new line for you, probably cheaper than a replacement would cost if they just replace one side.

You might be able to just pull the line and get a A/C shop to braze it. If that fails I'm sure the dealer could get you one for a reasonable price. I replaced the larger hoses in my system and IIRC they were only about $35 a piece. Just remember if your system is depressurized for a period of time you will most likely need to buy a new dryer before putting it back together and charging it. Good luck. :cheers:
