1987 4Runner Turbocharged tips

My daily driver is a 1987 Toy 4Runner SR5 22RTEC. Love this truck and especially the whistle the turbo makes. I wanna know some tips or maybe cool little tricks on how to keep my turbocharged truck running longer. Thanks

I think that is what he was asking... what basic maintenance?

Download a FSM from the top of the forum in the sticky. There is a section in there that covers general maintenance and inspections.

Also go to 22RTE-Trucks.com That web-site is dedicated to the 22rte motors. There are a lot of smart people on that site that can put you in the right direction with that turbo motor. Good luck!

An important thing with a 22RET is to not just shut it off after running it.
Let the engine idle a bit before turning it off. Lets the turbo unit cool down better, making it last longer.

Personally I wold run a synthetic oil if I had a turbo setup. Just my 2cents
