I have an open hole in my dash with a pigtail terminated in a blue plug. It is to the left of the steering wheel. This truck is all original and I got it with this switch missing. Anyone know what it is. here is a picture of it from another forum.

Note:

-Truck does not have power mirrors.
-In my other 1st gen this location was the clutch start cancel (on a 5 speed)
-Nothing is listed in the Repair manual

most likely an add on plug for door lock module or defog maybe or something like that, I will look in TIS to see what it references. Is there a number on connector anywhere?

Looks like my cruise control plug on my '89 except mine is on the right side. One the left of my steering wheel is power mirror, back cargo light, and dimmer. If I can remember, I'll look some more when I get home. Luckily the dash pod is already off replacing the speedo cable this weekend.

There is a "B3" and "4" on the plug. no other markings.

Thank you, Whatever it is, this 4runner may not have come with it, but it shocks me because it has every option.

I have the following switches here, and the plug does not match.

Safety Cancel (Clutch Start)
Deck Light
Rear Window
Defrost
Window Lock
Cruise Contol
Tailgate Washer (Very Close to a Match, but has one too many terminals)

Not sure about the following
Powwer Mirrors
Power Windows
Eject Button

The only thing on the left of my 93 P'up steering wheel is either the dash light dimmer ( knob ) , or the clutch bypass switch.

I made this up last night. I am going to start a thread for it to perhaps help other people in the future.

Did u unscrew the steering wheel column and search inside that? Also, have u traced the wires TO anything?

I still have not figured out this plug, it's not a priority, but it sure bugs me. I have not taken the time to trace any of the wires, but something must go there. I have looked up every conceivable plug and come up empty.

I found a very similar plug to the left of the steering column when I tore into my dash to do the heater core. It was on about an 8" long pigtail coming out of the main loom and it was taped up. It seemed to be from the factory since the tape was very crusty. Although I have a second gen sr5 (5speed swapped) with power everything I believe that the mystery plug on mine is for the safety switches for the clutch. I would not blink about it because Toyota probably made a fairly generic harness for all models of each generation inorder to save time and money. Unless something is not working or melting down it probably does nothing for your 4runner.
