1990 4runner problem

I recently took my runner to get smogged and it hasn't been the same since.. The guy at the smog shop was adjusting a screw that was on the air intake hose (possibly air/fuel mix screw). Anyway, when I'm driving (ecspecially at higher speeds), when I hit the gas and th r.p.m's go up for acceleration then I let go of the gas, the r.p.m's stay up high instead of going back down.. I don't know how to explain, but if anyone can help that would be awesome. Thanks

Hmm, sounds like your throttle cable is either binding or the return spring isn't connected. I'm no pro on the V6, but your idle speed screw shouldn't be at fault, unless you have a constant high idle.

i frickin hate getting smogs done they mess with everything then you spend a couple hours resettin stuff totally sucks

We have the same truck (almost mine is a 91') but the rest is the same I cant recall any adjusting screw in that area, Is the idle coming back down at all or just revs high after the rev??? the only Adjustment that I can think of on the throttle side is the throttle position sensor but it is not just one screw to adjust. hmmmm may need a throttle body cleaning might be sticking on the return. I'll go check out mine you have made me curious gat back to you if I figure it out.
