hi, i currently own a 1994 4 runner un registerd. i am looking into swapping the 2.2 litre petrol motor to a 2.8 diesel motor for their low range torque and the fact that its diesel. what modifications would have to be made or are there any things i need to look out for.

Um - you've got a lot of research to do, and asking huge open questions like that on message boards isn't the right way to do it. I'd start by looking for threads on your particular motor swap, that's going to be the best way to find out what pitfalls await you.

If the 2.8 diesel was ever a factory option in the second gen 4Runner/Surf, then it shouldn't be too hard to get a parts truck with that motor and just start swapping stuff over. If it wasn't a factory option, then you're starting from scratch and are probably biting off more than you can chew.

We don't have the diesels here in the US, so you may not get a lot of response.
Although I think they might have them in Canada, in which case our Canadian members would speak up.
