1996 4runner back wiper and back window switch not working

My back window will roll up and down with the key, but not with the switch that is on the center console. My back wiper will not work at all (and neither will the fluid). I think the back defroster is working because it lights up on the dash and the fog from my breathe goes away more quickly where the black lines are on the window.

The window lock on the drivers door is not on.
All of the fuses are good.
I tried the "normalizing" trick several times where you roll the window down and back up, holding the key to shut it all the way.
I also opened up the panel on the inside of the hatch and everything looks fine (to my knowledge which isn't much).

I have noticed a loud popping noise when the window is near the bottom.
The girl that owned it before me had glued the arm of the back wiper onto the resting pad (because she said her subwoofer was rattling it hahahahah what an idiot).

I am thinking something might be wrong with the connection between the car and the hatch. Is the defroster connected by seperate wiring? I noticed that there are two wires connecting the hatch to the car...

It could be that the girl turned the wiper on while it was glued to the car, which couldn't be good.

Toyota said it would be $50 to just look at the car, and I am very broke but winter is coming soon. Please help!

Also, I don't know where the relays are.

THanks so much in advance!!!!

Another note

I alos noticed that there is a wire coming up front under the drivers seat that isn't connected to anything, and that there is a wire coming from the center consol area under the drivers seat and is also not connected to anything. But these two wires do not have ends that will connect.

THe passenger seat also has a wire underneath it coming from the floor that is not connected to anything.

Thanks

Do you get the seat belt warning when you are on the seat but not buckled up? Maybe the disconnected wires are for that system.

Also, inside the rear hatch is a computer for the hatch functions. Pull the panel off the inside and check the wiring and connections.

Thanks for the response. I just pulled off the hatch panel and checked all of the connections. I also checked the seat and it didn't make any noise, so that must be it.

The seat belt thing doesn't make a noise, it has warning light on the dash for the driver and warning light near the rear window switch for the passenger.

I’m having the same problem! Still haven’t really found a straight answer for my situation. Rear wiper and window both don’t work, but washer fluid and defrost works. When I push the rear window down button I can hear a clicking sound(assuming a relay) coming from the back somewhere near the hatch. Any suggestions?? Thanks
