1997 4Runner fog light wiring complications

Hey,

hopefully someone can help I've searched everywhere and have had no luck. I am installing some fog lights and spot lights. I have all the wiring done but now for the switches. I have switches that have two lights one for when it is switched on and one for stanby that should come on with the running lights or accessories or what ever I choose. I'd like to wire them to my running lights, but I cannot find which wire under the dash this might be. Any help?! Which wire, I'd rather not cut into a bunch of wires. Or how can I check the wires to see which one it is?

Start with a schematic for your truck...
As for the indicator lights on your switch you would also have to share manual/schematic of your switch before we can help you.

By "running" lights you mean daytime running lights, or taillights / marker lights?
For extra measure of safety, switched-ground control is recommended. Tap positive side of relay coil to po[sitive side of tail light / marker light.

With respect to the above, only 2000+ 3G US 4Runners have DRL´s so I assume he means the indicator taillights, unless he has a Canadian 4Runner which got DRL´s in all years.

I don´t have access to a ´97 EWD as I am out of the country visting my other 4Runner in Brazil. If your rig is the same as a ´02, the tailight is energized by a red wire with a white stripe from Terminal 14 of the stalk switch which goes to the Combination switch (gauge cluster). It will give GROUND, not 12V+, when Tails or heads are on. If you can´t find it, you will need a ´97 EWD to get the correct color for your year. But I´d say there is a good chance it was red/white in ´97.

I do not have daytime running lights. I have a 1997 from the U.S. So I am looking to tap into the wire that controls the marker lights and/ or tail lights. The switch I am using is a 5 pin. It has two LED lights. Two pins are grounds. One pin goes to the + from the source w/ inline fuse. One pin goes to relay or acc. And the fifth pin goes to dash light circuit or ignition to be on when dash lights are on or when I turn on ignition. With that in mind if like to wire it so it is on when my dash lights are. I figured hooking it to the corner lights would do that. This doesn't actually turn the fog lights on just a light on the switch.
