i recently purchased a 1997 sr5 for my son , we changed the plugs, wires , water pump and timing belt ... Sometimes after driving if you turn motor off it doesnt want to start back up , you have to keep turning off and on till it starts , would this be a fuel pump????

this happened to me a while back. I had to get a new starter. I forget the price. But i'm sure someone on here will be able to tell you for sure what the problem might be.

turns over fine just will not start until the 3 or 4 times trying and then it starts up ,,,, it runs fine after it starts

last night we went out to eat in the 4 runner , and when i put it in drive it sputtered a little and then whent on and run fine the rest of the night, , SO far we have just turning over without starting and now sputtering upon acceleration ,??? any help would be great

Probably two separate issues. Replace the contacts in your starter instead of replacing the whole thing. It will cost you maybe $10 to replace those.

The other issue could be fuel related which could mean a thousand different things.

yoooooooo

Hell I havnt logged in for a couple of months.. but it looks like its just in the NICK of time.

Lemme tell ya my friend. I had the EXACT same problem a couple of months back and it drove me up the wall. First I thought it was the cold weather, but then it acted up on a hot day. THen I thought maybe the battery, replaced that (nope). I did the cables too. (nope) I pretty much did everything except change out the starter because theway I figured it, the thing starts up just fine, (when she wants too...) its just getting there is the problem.

I voiced my problem to the fellas here on the board and most of em had the problem once too... and my money is betting that your problem was once my problem.

:awais: The Starter Connectors :awais:

Theyre about 12 bucks at any store, but getting to the little bastards is harder than sucking a peanut outta jar of peanut butter. I dropped mine at a good mechanic I know and trust. $20 for parts and $100 for labor, he got it back to me the next day.

Hope I helped.
