1997 Toyota 4runner Limited

hey guys new to this forum thing and no one I know owns a 4runner. I recently inherited a 97 4runner from my mother. Runs great I love it and have know complains about it. What I dont know is what I need to do to keep it running in tip top shape. Car has 276,000+ miles I have no clue if it has been kept to date on tune ups. I recently changed the oil and oil filter using k&n oil filter and mobile 1 high mileage oil with marvel mystery oil additive with it, my uncle and few of my friends do it as well so I thought i'd try it as well. Now my question to you guys is what should I do as far as a tune up goes? what kind of spark plug wire? what kind of spark plugs? what kind of tranny fluid? Im not the greatest when it comes to cars but I do have friends that can hel me out greatly when it comes to doing the wrench time. thanks for reading and i await any help you guys can offer thanks again.

My suggestion for wires and plugs is denso. A lot of people use NGK plugs and wires also. Those two brands are the best to use for our trucks. For tranny fluid, I buy dealership stuff. I use conventional oils everywhere. You will get many opinions on what fluids to use. Just have to research and choose what makes sense to you. Check the buyers guide and maintenance stickys at the top of the 3rd gen forum. definitely denso or ngk for plugs and wires, and ONLY double prong ones. no the 4 prong $10 "platinum" plugs won't make your engine run better. all this you could find out from searching. which is what most of us were told after our first post. There's tons of info on this site and there's no right answer for a lot of the stuff (not all), you're going to have to read the discussions and choose what is right for you. check out the 4runner buyers guide too, its a sticky. if you go through some build threads you'll see what we do to keep our trucks maintained. we're always here to help, but the most useful and quickest tool is the search.
