Hey guys, I already gave him a call. No rear locker. Never the less, it looks like a solid ride, low miles, very motivated seller. It's out by Colorado Mills in Lakewood. I'm not willing to back 2 years and add 20,000 miles to not get everything I am looking for in a runner.

This is one of those "seems too good to be true", and given the desire to sell so quickly, I would be concerned. However, knowing what to look for and a quick VIN check should clear any of that up.

I agree that 25mpg is a bit optimistic, but why do you think this is not a '99 SR5? He does say CLEAN title in hand.

Yea thats a 97, or 98. Maybe he bought it from the dealership in 99 and has himself confused?

OK, not having the fat lip is something I missed. If it is not a '99, it wouldn't have a lot of the interior upgrades either. Emblem placement can't be used, because they were all done differently depending on which port they came into the USA at. The color looks like a dark grey to me; could be the '98's "cool steel metallic".

its the Athracite color, im sure he messed up the year when typing, and the mpg is too just attract buyers, he lists a phone number in the ad, it doesnt sound like a scam.

Emblem placement can be used. You will never see a 99-02 with the 4Runner emblem on the license plate bezel (unless done custom by an owner of course).

Hmm, I suppose that is possible, but I'm not sure. There is an "Autumn Blaze" one (which means it is a '99) I see around here every so often (usually at Costco), and the 4runner emblem is on the license plate trim. :shrug:

Yeah, that's the ugly color allright! Looks pretty So Gay to me, but it is a rare color.

I may go look at this listing tonight or tomorrow morning with my friend. He called the guy who sounded rushed and said he'd have to call him back in a little bit.

I think we can all agree it's a '98 or possibly earlier.
