I have a 1999 Sr5, and I've seen some posts calling some 99' 4Runners the highlander edition. What does it have or not have that makes it a Highlander?

Thanks! I'm just being curious.

Hood scoop, painted bumpers, fender flares, and five spoke wheels? Yes, you have the most blown out of proportion appearance package in the 4Runner world.

Have you seen the XP package on the new 5th gens? 20" ugly black wheels, BFG Rugged Terrains, black badges, "special" XP badges on the C pillars, and a grille insert. All for the measly price of only $4,999...

Is that a Factory Toyota package? Or a Gulf States Toyota, or Southeast Toyota distributor package?

It sounds like a GST, or Southeast Toyota distributor bling package.

I believe it's a Southeast Toyota package. I was very surprised that the one at my dealer that had the package was actually 4WD.

The package is pretty cool to begin with and even cooler now since those damn front mud flaps are discontinued. Making a clone with new parts is impossible now.

the mudflaps werent a standard option. I talked to an original owner that had some and he said he asked the dealer to put them on.

I thought the difference was just the hood scoop. My Limited has mud flaps and they just the name to sport edition the following year. Or "could there only be one" with mud flaps...

You must be new here. :) You will find out the front mud flaps pictured above are extremely hard to find and a lot of members are looking for them. They also never came on any Limited 4Runners.

To your point, I wonder if the mud flaps actually were standard and running boards were the option within the Highlander package?
