1999 T4R base model starter

I don't want to beat a dead horse but the starter threads are not helping me OR maybe I'm too dumb to see the answer. I have checked my battery and receiving 740 CA and I replaced the relay. I can hear the relay as I try to start. After the third click (turn of the key) car starts right up. Connections look good to battery and starter. I don't want to replace the starter but that is the last think I know to do. However the starter sounds good and cranks right up. Direct me to a thread that might give me a solid path to repair. I purchased this truck new and it has been great but with 186k it is starting to give me some trouble.
Thanks

Check your ground straps. The ground path from starter to battery goes through the motor block, so find the motor to battery ground strap and clean and reterminate both ends. If you still have trouble and want to rule out the starter, run a jumper wire between the battery positive post and the solenoid contact on the starter. If that cranks the truck every time, it's not the starter.

But - if the ground path is good and the relay kicks in when you turn the key, it could be the starter. Specifically, the starter contacts.
